inspired by the princess & the frog
It is a well known fact that fairy tales are for those who dream of imaginary lands and magical beings. Worlds inspired by drama, eccentric yet charming characters and gruelling villains. But what is it we always feel when we watch them? I believe it is hope. Hope that the Prince ends up with the Princess. Hope that love wins, and the villain loses and we get to revel in another victory over something awful.
We believe in love, we cheer for it, we dream of it, and we create our own tales to tell…
When we dream of a fairy tale land, we dream of twinkly lights and lush green grass under our toes, and flowers that dot the horizon and sway in the light breeze. What it must be like to sit in the midst of that magical place and dream of someone you love, or something you love (for Tiana it was owning her own business).
Dreams are our imaginations that have been sprinkled with what can be, the seemingly impossible that could come to life. Walt Disney once said ‘All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them!’
Tiana was looking for her dream to come true, and it was not a Prince she had in mind! Her ambition and passion had her working harder than anyone she knew to be able to afford to open her own business, where she could live out what she had been imagining for years.
In that pursuit, life threw her a bit of a curveball… love.
But love you see, is never without it’s complications. The Prince needed a Princess to break a spell and to fix his financial issues, and Tiana needed to not be a frog so she could figure out how to rescue her dream of opening her own business. They were looking for vastly different things but found each other… which is what they needed all along.
Shakespeare was on to something when he said ‘the course of true love never did run smooth’. But oh when you surrender to it…sheer magic!
