If there is one thing you can say about us here at MODE, it’s that we love and cheer for authenticity. It’s the raging theme in almost all my posts about wedding planning! And it won’t stop any time soon.
My goal over the past few years, is to get to the point where my couples trust my direction, styling choices and advice and allow me to curate a day with them that will be emotive, expressive and timeless.
I have been jotting down so many thoughts and ideas regarding 2024 trend predictions, and honestly, I do love them all, however, there is one thing I do want to say upfront… DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!
Isn’t that such nice advice…
Your wedding day is yours to enjoy. It’s a day that should be filled with moments that make you both smile, items that reflect your personalities and people that love and adore you. It should be fun from start to finish. You should wake up the next morning and want to do it all again because it was the most amazing experience! (I mean, #goals am I right!?)
Now, I’m a wedding planner, so obviously I really love unconventional as well as traditional weddings. I cannot say that I dislike any of the traditions that couples tend to incorporate, even if it is only because it’s what has been done for centuries. Because the truth of the matter is, if it is something that makes my couples happy then I am all for it! But that won’t stop me from nudging you to think about it fully, comprehend all the what’s and why’s and ensure that you really want those traditions as a reflection of you as a couple.
Go read my post on remaining authentic if you want a bit more advice on this topic.
Nevertheless, I’ve narrowed down MODE’s 2024 trend prediction IN’S and OUTS to my fav’s.
IN
Creative ideas + authentic expression!
Emotive + expressive photography
Bows, everywhere. I just love them!
Unconventional table settings + styling
Private Vows (seen or unseen)
Alternative ‘champagne’ towers
Interesting venues + locations
Getting a planner + stylist (yup, I said it)
Taking your planners direction/advice on supplier selection suited to your wedding. (Yup, I said that too.)
Letting go of anxiety + learn to trust your suppliers. (Are you still here?) Lol
OUT
Cookie-cutter weddings (same same)
Unrealistic Inspo boards (If you don’t know ask a stylist)
Traditions you don’t relate to
Bridal parties for the sake of having one.
Obligatory invites.
Traditional timelines.
Booking suppliers because they’re cheap.
Mock tables (trust your stylist!)
Comparison to social media or our friend’s wedding!
Guest favours with no meaning (write a personal note rather!)
These are obviously our opinions. While I do find them to be useful in curating your own authentic (there’s that word again) wedding experience, I do want to re-iterate that valuing the old traditions and ways of having a wedding day is still a beautiful and meaningful thing to do.
Whatever your preference, my wish for you, is a day that you will remember for a lifetime. A day that is the beginning of your happily ever after.
